Nature: Status Report #2 for Indian River's new Brush Truck

Location: Station #1 – Oak Orchard

 

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is pleased to announce the progression update for one of its newest fire trucks to replace our aging fleet. This unit will be a Ford F550 XL Brush Truck and will replace Brush 80-0 - https://irvfc.com/apparatus/detail/4609.

This unit will be known as Brush 80 with an estimate cost of $249,900.

Atlantic Emergency Solutions recently published information that this unit was available for sale with immediate delivery and Indian River was able to acquire the vehicle before the Hampton Road Fire Exposition in February, 2025.

This replacement brush truck will feature the following options:

  • 2024 Ford F550 Super Duty Chassis – 4 door cab

  • 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel Engine with 10 speed automatic transmission

  • 4x4 with under body skid plates

  • Buckstop Super Single Conversion (NFPA Compliant) with off road suspension - 4” Lift

  • Wheelen CenCom Core Warning Light Package (programmable and upgradable)

  • Extended front bumper with Warn 16,500 LB winch and brush guard

  • Fog Lights recessed for protection

  • Double Pan Compartment Doors (Lockable)

  • Rhino Lined Compartments with strip LED lighting

  • Powder Coated Ultra durable finish

  • C-Tech toolbox

  • Long Tool Storage under skid unit

  • Hose Bed for 1¾’ and 2½’ dead lays on top of driver side catwalk

  • Open tool storage on passenger side catwalk

  • CET Skid Unit

  • 250 gpm Honda Gasoline pump

  • 200 foot 1” Booster Reel with hoze and nozzle, manual and electric rewind

  • 300 g. Water Tank

  • 10 g. Class A Foam Tank

  • Trident Around the Pump Foam System

  • 1½” Rear Pre-connect Hose Bed

  • Upper Boady Handrails

  • Full Length Rub Rail

  • Heat sealed waterproof electrical connections

  • Custom Headache Rack with Lightbar Protection

  • Trailer Towing Package

  • Front Hitch Receiver

Indian River desires to publish this progress report information as it becomes available to keep our fire district constituents updated.

As identified via the pictorial information, this unit has completed its graphics installation at Rogers Signs in Milton, Delaware and awaits installation of the apparatus computer and Opticom traffic control emitter.  Thereafter, we will commence with apparatus training prior to activating the unit in service as Brush 80.
