Nature: Indian River Pursues Brush Truck Replacement
Location: Statin #1 – Oak Orchard
On Thursday evening, February 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company evaluated and authorized the procurement of new brush truck. This new brush truck will replace Indian River’s 1999 Ford F350 Brush known as Brush 80-0 - https://irvfc.com/apparatus/detail/4609
This replacement brush truck will be a 2024 Ford F550 XL utility body purchased from Atlantic Emergency Solutions.
In August 2023, Indian River developed an Apparatus Replacement Initiative which called for the replacement of two engines (Engine 80-1 – a 23 year old piece of apparatus, Engine 80-3 – a 16 year old piece of apparatus) and discussed a brush truck replacement because it was a 24 year old piece of apparatus. The replacement engine for 80-3 was delivered last calendar year (2024) and is known as Engine 80 - https://irvfc.com/apparatus/detail/51259. The replacement engine for 80-1 will be delivered in March-April 2025 time period and will be known as Squad 80 - https://irvfc.com/gallery/detail/53222?ss=1. This new brush truck is available for immediate delivery and was shown at our Oak Orchard Station this evening. This new brush truck will be a 2024 Ford F550 XL utility body piece and known as Brush 80.
This brush truck was shown by Atlantic Emergency Solutions. Indian River’s personnel had an opportunity to compare and contrast the existing Brush 80-0 with the proposed Brush 80.
Illustrated herewith are various photographs of this new unit which will be delivered to Indian River in the foreseeable future for retrofitting and finishing details.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company wishes to acknowledge our Salesperson Brian Bashista as well as all of community supporters that have assisted with making this final phase of the 2023 Apparatus Replacement Initiative become a reality.
