Indian River's new Pierce Saber Engine (Squad 80) Continues - Final Progress Report
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has been preparing its new Pierce Saber engine, designated Squad 80, for active service. The final stages of preparation for this vehicle were taking place over the past few days.
Key details about the new Squad 80:
Manufacturer: The new unit was produced by Pierce Manufacturing in Bradenton, FL
Purpose: It is an engine that will replace Engine 80-1, an older 2001 Spartan 4-Guys model.
Design: The new vehicle is a Pierce Saber cab and chassis.

This unit is part of Indian River’s ongoing effort to update its aging fleet. This units was placed in-service on Wednesday evening, August 27, 2025 and will respond out of the Long Neck facility.
