Early Friday morning, July 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to multiple automatic alarms sounding or other service type calls within the fire district as a result of the electrical outrage.

  1. Beebe Healthcare – Long Neck Road location was assigned to Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility to mitigate the general fire alarm activation.  After evaluation of the incident location and facility with no visible issues present, this location was placed on officers call for the next 24 hours.  This alarm incident was attributed to the power outrage.

  2. Sun Outdoors – Rehoboth Bay former Massey’s Landing Campground was assigned to Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility to mitigate the water flow alarm activation.  An on-  location responder identified that this too was attributed to the power outrage and placed on officers call for the next 24 hours.

  3. Residential Service – Stonewater Creek – This location was assigned to Tanker 80 from the vehicle accident location  to mitigate this concern.  After evaluation of the incident and discussion with the homeowner there were no additional concern.

  4. Multi-Residential Structure – Alarm Sounding – The Peninsula location was assigned to Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility to mitigate the alarm activation.  After evaluation of the incident location and facility which identified the system has low air pressure issues.  This location was placed on officers call for the next 24 hours.  This alarm incident was attributed to the power outrage.

  5. Residential Structure – Smoke Detector Alarm Activation – Stonewater Creek -  This alarm activation was assigned to Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard area to mitigate the hallway smoke detector activation. After evaluation of the incident location and discussion with the home occupants it was identified as the system based upon the electrical outage in the area.  This location was placed on officers call for the next 24 hours.

The electrical outage in the Long Neck area was expected to be an extended process to allow the utility service provider to replace the broken utility pole as a result of the earlier vehicle accident.
