First Responders Host Parade for Cancelled Birthday Parties – COVID-19 Related

As everyone attempts to practice social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic, people are dealing with disappointment over cancelled events, social gatherings, school closings, sport events, employment opportunities, and so many more.  Celebrating birthday events without friends, family, and the absence of a fun party maybe a significant let down.

While everyone is currently prioritizing health and safety concerns, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is attempting to make these milestones memorable for the participating families.  As the family participants were waiting outside, they heard sirens in their neighbor and looked down their streets with exuberance only to witness fire trucks with their flashing lights and horns sounding as they drove by.  One fire company representative got out of the truck to drop off some goodies for the birthday child, firefighter hats and stickers, as well as fire prevention and safety materials.  Over the past few days, these events were held in the following communities:  Riverdale, Warwick Park, Stonewater Creek, Bay Shore, Pot Nets Creekside, Rehoboth Shores, et. al.
