Story

Nature:  Pre-Delivery Inspection Process for Indian River's new Pierce Saber Engine (Squad 80) Continues - Progress Report #16

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is pleased to announce the production status update for one of its new Pierce Saber 7000 fire trucks to replace our aging fleet. This unit will be a Pierce Saber Cab & Chassis and will replace Engine #80-1 - https://irvfc.com/apparatus/detail/4611. This unit will be known as Squad 80 with an estimate cost of $914,495.

This replacement engine will feature the following options:

  • Pierce Saber Cab & Chassis

  • Cummins L9, 450 HP Engine

  • 3000 Series Allison Transmission

  • 1500 GPM Pump

  • 1000 Gallon Water Tank

  • Husky 3 Foam System

  • Firetech Scene Lighting

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company will publish additional information as it becomes available and will be posted hereafter.

This report for this stage of production is that the new Saber has completed the third-party testing department as well as the quality control departments. A cadre of Indian River’s Truck Committee attended the Pierce Manufacturing Facility in Bradenton, Florida over the past two days for the pre-delivery inspection.
