Nature: Inclement Weather – January 3 Winter Storm includes Coastal Flooding

Location: River Road @ Chiefs Road

After days of temperatures in the 60s, the pending storm is expected to bring winter roaring back on Monday, January 3rd.

Numerous winter weather advisories, watches and warnings have been posted across Delmarva as temperatures are expected to take a steep plunge, any rain is expected to switch to snow, and winds are expected to pick up in speed.  A coastal flood warning will also be in effect.

The Winter Storm of January 3 brought a significant amount of snow into Sussex County and the Indian River fire district was not any different.  It is estimated that approximately 6 to 12 inches fell throughout Sussex County and many inland bay communities experienced minor to moderate coastal flooding.
