Nature: Vehicle Fire

Location: 30581 Mount Joy Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday evening, May 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire on Mount Joy Road.  It was reported to be tow behind trailer type vehicle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression tactics to prevent the spread of the fire.

It appears that the property occupants were again conducting an unattended inappropriate burn that ultimately got out control extending into a travel type recreational trailer and nearby brush and woods. The travel trailer was a complete loss.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control was requested to the respond to the incident location as was the Delaware State Fire Marshal.  Both regulatory agencies are conducting investigations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

This was not first inappropriate burn incident at this respective location - http://irvfc.com/gallery/detail/41290
