Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics
Location: 26454 Bay Farm Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966
On Wednesday, June 10th, when the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company units were returning a from previous emergency incident, http://irvfc.com/gallery/detail?id=39509, and another emergency alert incident was received.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation and Ground units, the Millsboro (83) and Mid Sussex (91) EMS units were alerted for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on Bay Farm Road.
Emergency response units included Utility 80-8 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard area, Engine #80-1 and 80 Command from the Long Neck area, and the Delaware State Fire Police.
It appears that a motorcycle and a landscape utility truck collided on Bay Farm Road between John J. Williams Highway and Sandpiper Drive (River Breeze) when the motorcycle struck the utility truck becoming lodged under the rear tires.
The emergency responder assignments included vehicle stabilization where needed, assistance with patient stabilization and primary patient care before arrival of other emergency medical services, traffic control with complete closure of Bay Farm Road between the aforementioned cross streets, and a landing zone designation and establishment.
The occupants of the landscape truck remained uninjured while the occupant of the motorcycle was transferred from the scene of the accident to the designated landing zoning for transportation to a medical facility.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the complete closure of Bay Farm Road for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
