Indian River Promotes Fire Prevention Activities – Practice Fire Safety with Smoke House Exercises and Simulated 9-1-1 Calls Thursday, October 13, 2016 The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company continues its fire prevention demonstrations and presentations at the Long Neck Elementary School in order to recognize the importance of this initiative. In order to teach fire safety to children, one must concentrate and emphasis the following: (1) Firefighters are you friends – Monday, October 10th - http://irvfc.com/gallery/detail/23161, (2) Create an escape plan – Tuesday October 11th - http://www.irvfc.com/gallery/detail/23164?ss=1 and http://www.irvfc.com/gallery/detail?id=23172, (3) Practice fire safety skills – every presentation, (4) Talk about fire prevention – every presentation, and (5) Plan fire safety activities – every presentation and every day. On Thursday, October 13th, the instructional activities included the 3rd Grade Students for instruction and recreational activities with practicing fire safety, exit drills, and what to do as well as a simulated 911 call. This year’s National Fire Prevention Theme is “Don’t Wait – Check the Date!
