Nature: Utility #80-14 Truck Refurbishment Activities Continued...

On Thursday evening, October 6, 2016, some volunteers of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company attended a scheduled work detail to coordinate the truck refurbishment activities associated with Utility #80-14 which is a surplus military 5-ton repurposed for inclement weather within the fire district.

This work detail highlighted the electrical system lighting for scene lights, interior cab and compartment lights, driving and navigational lighting enhancements; and materials preparation, cutting, grinding, sanding, and installation of the rear compartment safety rails; modification to front and rear canopy bow installation devices; and step modification for easier access.

The safety rail raw materials were measured, cut, drilled, grinded, sanded, and installed while on location. The lighting package installation has been completed and pending connections; and the canopy has been measured and special ordered.

This vehicle is available for usage should circumstances require its activation.
