Engine 80-7 becomes E-81
Engine 80-7 Transformed into Engine 81
Engine 80-7 (Retired)
1980 Ward La France/Maxim Engine
Indian River’s Engine 80-7 was a five (5) man cab, with a 6v71 Detroit diesel engine, Allison automatic transmission, 1000 gallon per minute (GPM) Hale pump, and a 1000 gallon water tank. Engine 80-7 was believed to be the next-to-last Ward La France ever manufactured and delivered.
Engine #80-7 was replaced with our newest unit scheduled for delivery in February, 2008. The new engine was identified as Engine #80-3 in mid calendar year 2008. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company sold Engine #80-7 to Beech Island, Aiken County, South Carolina and was refurbished for active use.
Information was obtained via website for Beech Island Fire Department in Aiken County, South Carolina.
