Nature: Structure Fire – Residential – Piping Plover Drive – Peninsula Lakes

On Monday morning, November 2^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a residential structure fire on Piping Plover Drive in the Peninsula Lakes development.  It was reported that the residential occupants smelled burning plastic and had heater services and just turned it on for first time.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included an exterior evaluation as well as commencing with an interior evaluation.  Crew evaluated the residential crawl space as well as the attic space and could not locate any areas of concerns. 

The residential heating system was recently services and ducts were cleaned.  Heating system was shut off upon arrival and after evaluation the heater was turned back on and the smell was present again but dissipating.

After discussion with the homeowners, all emergency apparatus was authorized to return to their respective quarters.
