Nature: MVC – Motorcycle – River Road

Location: 31398 River Rd, 19966

On Friday evening, October 2^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on River Road in the vicinity of the Indian River Yacht Club.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2 as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  It was reported to be motorcycle versus utility pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient assessment and stabilization, vehicle stabilization, traffic control, preparation of landing zoning, etc.

It appears at that Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling on River Road and lost control approaching the curve near the yacht club.  The aviation unit was landed near the intersection of Gull Point Road, Downs Landing Road and River Road.  The injured cyclist was flown to Christiana Medical Center in New Castle County.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and road closure assignments for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
