Nature: Vehicle In Floodwater / Long Neck Road & Pine Cone Dr., Pot Nets Coveside

On Saturday morning, September 26, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle in floodwater on Long Neck Road near the Pot Nets Coveside entrance. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad. It was reported to be a grandmother and grandchild in a white Chevrolet Malibu vehicle in the floodwater.

Emergency response units from Indian River included the assigned high water response vehicle (Utility 80-14) from the Oak Orchard facility.

Emergency response crew assignments were to identify and evaluate the situation and offer assistance to the motorist.

It appears that a vehicle did not heed the floodwaters and attempted to drive through the water and become disabled.  Emergency response personnel assisted to extricate the vehicle occupants and left the vehicle for pending towing operators to retrieve.

This area of Long Neck traditionally floods as a result of inclement tidal conditions.
