Nature: Structure Fire - Baywood
Location: 32755 Greens Way , 19966

On Thursday afternoon, September 24th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82) and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for residential structure fire on Greens Way in the Baywood development off John J. Williams Highway.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported to be a kitchen fire within the residence. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and Command 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included an exterior 360 evaluation as well as an interior evaluation.  Initial arriving first responders identified that the fire was out but smoke residue remained.  Emergency response units were held to the Indian River units cancelling all other responses. 

It appears that there was a kitchen fire within the residence and was extinguished prior to arrival of emergency response personnel.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident. 

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
