Nature: Vehicle Accident – Bay Farm Road – Second Emergency In District

On Monday evening, September 21^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Bay Farm Road in the vicinity of School Lane and William Drive.  This was the second emergency within the fire district.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a single vehicle accident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Squad 80 and Deputy 80 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, fluid and debris recovery where applicable, traffic control and incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee left the roadway between School Lane and William Drive and struck a tree causing injury to the vehicle occupant. One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police assist with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
