Nature: Water Rescue Priority 2 – Mutual Aid Response - Assist Millville (84)

On Monday, September 21st, the Indian River (80), Dagsboro (73), Bethany Beach (70) and Frankford (76) Volunteer Fire Companies, as well as the Sussex County Paramedics, Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2 were alerted to assist the Millville (84) Volunteer Fire Company with a water rescue incident. Additional emergency alerts include the Delaware Marine Police and the USCG-Indian River Squadron. It was reported that a rafter fell off the raft and is in the water struggling. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-11 with 80 Marine 2 and Deputy Chief 80 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews from Indian River responded to the Pot Nets Bayside ramp for launching and proceeded to the designated coordinates provided by the Sussex County Emergency Operational Center.

It was reported that the rafter was afloat with a life jacket on and was able to make it to a nearby pier.

Emergency response resources were downgraded as a result of the incident progress.
