Nature: Water Rescue Priority 1 – Golf Cart into Half Shell Pond – Pot Nets Bayside

On Saturday afternoon, August 29^th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83) and Dagsboro (73) fire companies were alerted for a water rescue incident at Half Shell Pond in the Pot Nets Bayside development.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.  It was reported that a golf cart ran into the pond, occupant is injured, and Pot Nets Security has entered to the water to assist with extrication.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Command 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response units were notified that this incident was located at the Half Shell Pond area and actual marine units would not be needed; thereby, cancelling Millsboro and Dagsboro emergency units.

It appears that a golf cart ran into the pond with occupant injuries.  The golf cart was fully submerged in the water.  The aviation unit was cancelled as well.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
