Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

On Tuesday evening, August 25th, the Indian River (80) and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment on Long Neck Road parallel with Loop Drive (Pot Nets Creekside).  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation – Trooper #2, the Mid Sussex Rescue and the Millsboro EMS.  It was reported to be car rolled over with entrapment of three people.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Squad 80 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, preparation and establishment of landing zone for aviation, fluid and debris recovery and overall incident mitigation efforts.  The best scene access was via Pot Nets Creekside.

It appears that a yellow Fiat 500L was traveling on Long Neck Road and did not successfully navigate the curve, running over the berm striking fencing and trees as well as rolling over.  One pediatric patient was flown via Delaware State Police Trooper #2 and two other persons were transported via ground units.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control and scene access for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
