Nature: Vehicle Accident
Location: 27073 John J Williams Hwy, 19966
On Sunday, August 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of the Nanticoke Indian Center on John J. Williams Highway. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad. It was reported to be a two vehicle accident with unknown status of injuries.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization where needed, patient stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery as well as overall incident mitigation.
It appears that a black Dodge Avenger sedan and white Toyota Tundra SR5 pick up collided when the Avenger attempted to enter the roadway from a private residential location. It was reported that possibly one person desired an EMS evaluation.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident. The impacted area was between Gull Point Road and Rosedale Road.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
