On Monday morning, August 17th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a medical emergency with establishing a landing zone assignment near Surf Bird Way and Tributary Blvd in the Peninsula Lakes development.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews identified the landing zone assignment would be at the American Legion Post #28 for the incoming aviation unit from the Maryland State Police.

Emergency response personnel established the landing zone and coordinated the patient transfer from ground unit to the aviation unit which then transported the patient to an appropriate medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic contact as necessary.

All emergency response units were authorized to clear and return to their quarters after the aviation unit departure.
