Nature: Water Rescue Priority 1 – Indian River Inlet Area
Address: 38 36'21 and 75 5'51,
On Wednesday evening, the Indian River (80), Millville (84), Bethany Beach (70), Dagsboro (73) and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a water rescue incident near the mouth of the Indian River Inlet on the Indian River Bay side. Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2, the United States Coast Guard and the DNREC Fish & Wildlife Marine Police. It was reported that a boat was taking on water.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-11 with 80 Marine 2 from the Long Neck facility and Utility 80-8 with 80 Marine 1 from the Oak Orchard facility which responded to the Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp for launching.
Emergency response units coordinated the vessel occupant and transported to the Holts Landing State Park Boat Ramp. DNREC Marine Police will coordinate the control of the concerned vessel.
All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective launch points.
