Nature: Auxiliary Hosts Inaugural Cash BINGO Event

Location: Oak Orchard Facility

Wow… we’re still speechless.

On Saturday, August 1st, the Auxiliary of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, hosted their Inaugural Cash BINGO event!

It has been more than 48 years, since “cash” BINGO was hosted in the hall facility of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, and to see our engine bays filled with so many members of our community was something we’ll never forget. We are truly humbled by the incredible support you showed our little fire company.

As with any first-time event, there were a few things we learned and a few things we’ll adjust if we bring BINGO back. But by every measure that truly matters, the night was a success. We hope everyone had a great time, enjoyed the friendly competition, and appreciated the chance to spend an evening together as a community.

For many of you, this may have been your first time spending an evening inside our station. While you were playing BINGO, you were surrounded by the very place our volunteers call home. The gear hanging in the lockers, the apparatus lined up outside the bays, the stripes painted on the floor, and the call boards on the walls are all reminders that this building is much more than a venue, it’s where our members prepare to answer the call, whether that means leaving work, stepping away from family gatherings, or getting out of bed in the middle of the night to help someone in need.

A volunteer is someone who gives their time in service to others without expecting anything in return. That is exactly what the members of our Fire Company and Auxiliary do every single day. But the truth is, we couldn’t do any of it without the support of this incredible community.

You didn’t just show up for BINGO, you continue to show up for us. Whether it’s attending our breakfasts, chicken dinners, fundraisers, purchasing merchandise, making donations, or simply cheering us on, your support allows us to continue serving the Oak Orchard, Long Neck, and surrounding communities.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many local businesses and individuals who generously donated prizes, gift cards, and support to help make this event possible. Your generosity added so much to the evening, and we are incredibly grateful.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, sponsored, and supported this event. Seeing our firehouse filled with laughter, conversation, and community reminded us exactly why we do what we do.

We truly can’t wait to welcome everyone back again.

Thank you!
