Nature: Residential Structure Fire Amended to Vehicle Fire

On Saturday afternoon, July 25^th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83) and Dagsboro (73) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Warwick Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.  Initial emergency alerts identified a residential structure fire but was amended to be a recreational vehicle (RV - Class C Type Vehicle).

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from a fire prevention demonstration on John J. Williams Highway; Tanker 80 and Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities, water supply, and manpower assistance as designated.

It appears that a recreational vehicle (Class C) caught fire and was fully involved upon arrival of emergency response unit.  Rescue 80 was within 2 miles of the incident, arrived on scene, initiated a fire suppression line and established incident command.  Tanker 80 personnel assisted with fire suppression and water supply.  The other response apparatus staged and provided personnel for assignments.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Warwick Road.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
