Nature: Structure Fire – Assist Lewes (82)

On Wednesday, July 22^nd, the Indian River (80), Milton (85) and Rehoboth Beach (86) fire companies were alerted to assist the Lewes (82) Fire Department with a residential structure fire on Winona Lane in the Tanager Woods development off Robinsonville Road.  It was reported that lightning struck the house and can smell smoke upstairs.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance as needed with personnel reporting to the manpower pool.

Recent strong summer storms moving through the northeast corridor brought intense lightning activity that struck numerous structures, causing damage and safety concerns throughout the region.

Emergency response crews were busy mitigating many incidents of concerns.
