Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Long Neck Road., 19966

On Saturday evening, July 18^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at the Long Neck intersection causing damage and injury.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics and the Millsboro EMS.  It was reported to be a two vehicle accident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Squad 80 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a silver Chevrolet Silverado pick up and a gray Hyundai Elantra collided at the intersection causing significant damage to both vehicles and injuries.  The injured parties were transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic patterns via the intersection during the mitigation of the incident.  All traffic patterns were altered at the intersection.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
