Nature: Structure Fire – Commercial Building – Mother Mary of Peace Church

Location: 30839 Mount Joy Rd, 19966

On Sunday morning, July 5^th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82) and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a structure fire at the Mother Mary of Peace Church on Mount Joy Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported to be fire and smoke coming from the front of the building as the motorist was passing by.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Chief 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. 

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities with a water can as well as other evaluation and investigative measures. 

It was identified as a small fire near the front of the building, possibly a trash can.  All emergency response units were cancelled and limited to Tanker 80. 

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall was consulted and will be following up.
