Monday, June 29, 2026Nature: Long Neck Fire Station – Construction Finalized & Occupancy AuthorizedAddress: 25375 Banks RoadThe Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is pleased to announce that the construction and renovation project is complete and occupancy has been authorized as of mid-June 2026, providing a modern facility to enhance emergency response for the community.
The new 16,000-square-foot facility replaces the outdated 1972 Long Neck station, addressing growing emergency call volumes and providing updated infrastructure to support effective firefighting and rescue operations. The total project cost is approximately $4.1 million, including $3.5 million for construction; $477,000 for sitework; and misc. change orders.
Four oversized drive-through apparatus bays designed for modern, larger fire apparatus and equipment.Enhanced living and training areas, including bunk rooms, a meeting room, a training room, and an upgraded kitchen.Strategically placed equipment and apparatus at the facility to improve response times in high-demand areas.
