FIREFIGHTER FRIDAY: The Heart Behind the Helmet Recognizes Chrissandra Correll.

This week, we’re proud to feature another dedicated member of Station 80:

  • ??‍?? Chrissandra Correll – Firefighter

    • ?? Originally from Hamburg, Pennsylvania

    • ? 3 years with Station 80

?? Why she joined:

“I wanted to become a firefighter because my mom and dad were firefighters when we lived in Pennsylvania. After my house burned down when I was 18 months old, I knew I wanted to help people in my community and do whatever I could to serve others.”

??‍?? Inspired by:

Her mom and dad.

?? What she enjoys most:

“The brotherhood and sisterhood of fellow firefighters and how we get to help our community as a team.”

?? What people might not realize:

“The physical and mental strain it leaves behind. You just have to remember to take care of yourself and be the best version of yourself.”

?? Most memorable call:

Responding to a tragic accident involving the loss of two young children — a call that reinforced the importance of compassion, professionalism, and supporting one another through difficult situations.

?? Outside the firehouse:

Chrissandra works at Harris Teeter and also serves as a caregiver.

?? Off-duty:

She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her dog.

? Favorite local spot:

Dunkin

?? Favorite sports teams:

Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Phillies

?? Fun Facts:

• First job: Massey’s Campground Café

• Favorite TV shows: Grey’s Anatomy and Fire Country

• Go-to station snack: Chex Mix

• Favorite artist: Brantley Gilbert

?? Why it matters:

“It gives me a sense of peace and comfort knowing that I am serving and protecting my community.”

?? Why volunteer?

“You should consider volunteering because it gives you a chance to learn a lot of new skills while helping your community in the process.”

?? Her advice:

“It is 100% the best decision you will make. You gain friends that become family.”

Chrissandra began her journey with Indian River as a Junior Member and successfully completed all of the requirements to become an Active Firefighter. She now responds from our Long Neck facility and has been actively involved in numerous committee programs. Her dedication, enthusiasm, and desire to serve others continue to make her a valued member of the Station 80 family as she works toward becoming an exceptional firefighter.

?? Thank you, Chrissandra, for your dedication, commitment, and service to Station 80 and our community!
