On Tuesday morning, May 26th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment on Indian Mission Road in the vicinity of the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics, the Lewes Fire Department for a rescue assist, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.  It was reported to be a two vehicle accident involving a truck and RV trailer and passenger vehicle.  The occupant cannot get out of the passenger vehicle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a white KIA SUV and a white pick-up truck pulling a recreational RV collided on Indian Mission Road in the vicinity of the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad causing damage to the SUV and recreational trailer.  The SUV occupant needed assistance getting out the vehicle by emergency response personnel.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic for the duration of the incident by detouring traffic via Friendship and Autumn Roads.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
