Nature: Duty Officer – Citizen Assist Service Call

On Friday, May 22nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company Duty Officer was alerted for a citizen assist / service call type incident to provide assistance.

A fire department / citizen assist is a non-emergency service call where personnel help someone with a specific request. These calls are not common; however, often making up a very few of all fire department runs, and are most frequent among older adults needing a community service assist.

Apparatus response from Indian River included an officer for evaluation before designating specific resources. 

While traveling to the incident location, this request was cancelled and no longer needed as a neighbor was able to assist.
