FIREFIGHTER FRIDAY: The Heart Behind the Helmet Recognizes Eric Ruckle.

This week, we’re proud to feature another long-time member and leader of Station 80:

  • ??‍?? Eric Ruckle – Fire Captain

  • ?? Originally from Linwood, Pennsylvania

  • ? Serving with Station 80 since 1998 — 28 years

?? Why he joined:

“I wanted to help my community and help people.”

His grandfather.

?? What he enjoys most:

“Helping people when in time of need.”

?? What people might not realize:

“The stress.”

?? Most memorable call:

Losing a fellow firefighter — a reminder of the sacrifices and brotherhood that come with the fire service.

?? Outside the firehouse:

Eric works as a Retail Manager and Electrician.

?? Off-duty:

He enjoys billiards, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

?? Favorite sports team:

Philadelphia Eagles

Over the years, Eric has served the department in numerous leadership positions including Deputy Chief, 1st Assistant Chief, 2nd Assistant Chief, and Captain. He has also contributed through several department committees including Uniform, Entertainment, Membership, and Accident Investigation & Evaluation.

Eric’s dedication and service have earned him multiple recognition's including the Hurst Jaws of Life Green Cross Award, Incident Top Responder Award, and the Henry C. Warrington Award.
