Nature: Brush Fire

Location: 35046-35359 Main St Bay City, DE 19966

 

On Wednesday morning, May 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a brush fire on Main Street in the Bay City development off Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be marsh weeds on fire just down from the mailboxes and possibility included utility pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression, water supply, and traffic control for the duration of the incident.

It appears that area of marsh weeds caught fire which impacted a utility pole and fencing bordering the area.  The respective utility service provider – Delaware Electric Cooperative was notified of the incident for evaluation of the area.  The area was fully suppressed and saturated to prevent further conditions or concerns.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective quarters when complete.
