On Monday afternoon, March 9th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm sounding in a residential structure (single family). This would be a second alarm in the fire district for Indian River. It was reported to be a smoke alarm sounding in zone 7 of the residential structure.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Utility 80-11 from the Millsboro area and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility.
Emergency response crews were notified while responding to the incident location that actual contact was made with home occupants and identified as a culinary mishap, proper passcode and wishing to cancel.
Engine 80 continued to the incident location and all other emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
