On Monday morning, February 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a confined space rescue involving a residential structure collapse on Blue Blvd in the Shawn’s Hide-a-way development off Banks Road. Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, Sussex County Technical Rescue Team, Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Lewes Fire Department. It was reported to be a tree fallen on a house with one patient.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Utility 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80 and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility.
Emergency response crew assignments included patient evaluation, structure evaluation, utility service shut off coordinated, cancellation of apparatus response not needed, etc.
It appears that a tree fell onto the residential structure causing significant damage. The homeowner was able to coordinated arrangements with a neighbor.
