On Wednesday evening, February 18th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the AMVETS Post #2 off Long Neck Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.  It was reported that an individual was hanging on a vehicle which dragged him.  This was a second emergency in the fire district for Indian River.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and Brush 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization and packaging for transport.  Transportation was via ground to Beebe Medical Center.  The aviation unit was not utilized.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with scene access limitation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
