Nature: Brush Fire

Location: 27174 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday evening, February 14, 2026, the Indian River Vol. Fire Co. was alerted for a brush fire on John J Williams Hwy. in the area of Indian Summer Village. It was reported to be a back yard on fire which was spreading to nearby trees and a firewood pile.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80, Engine 80, and Command 80 from the Long Neck facility. As well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response assignments included fire suppression with the use of Class A foam, water supply, overhaul and wet down of the area and traffic control.

It appears the residents were having a controlled burn which became out of control igniting the back yard. The residents were advised of the proper burning procedures before units returned to their respective quarters.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
