On Thursday, May 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for various medical emergencies which necessitated the utilization of the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2 for transporting patients to medical facilities in New Castle County.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility were needed as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control during the landing and departure activities of the aviation unit as well as assisting with patient transfer from ambulant to aviation unit.

Both of these incidents were associated with medical mishaps with on landing zone location being Station #2 on Banks Road in Long Neck and the Mother Mary of Peace Church near Oak Orchard.
