Wednesday October, 11 2023 @ 18:48Nature: Residential Structure FireLocation: 212 Long Neck Circle Pines At Long Neck, DE 19966On Wednesday, October 11th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Long Neck Circle in the Pines of Long Neck. The Sussex County Emergency Operations Center was receiving multiple calls of smoking coming from the neighbor’s house.Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities, primary residential search, establish water supply and provide residential occupant assistance. An initial interior search was completed to verify all occupants were out of the residential structure as well as immediate interior fire suppression activities were pursued. Other arriving units were required to assist with establishing a water supply and fire ground assistance where designated including roof ladders and ventilation, etc.The initial arriving first responder identified for incoming fire apparatus an immediate 360 degree evaluation of the residential structure completed and identifying heavy smoke coming from all sides of the eaves, with a working attic fire on the Charlie-Delta (C-D) side with three (3) persons needing evaluation by emergency medical services. Incoming apparatus were provided specific assignments from the Fire Ground Officer In Charge (OIC).Other mutual aid companies (Milton (85), Rehoboth Beach (86), & Dagsboro (73)) were requested for cover up and standby assignments for the companies operating on the fire grounds.The American Red Cross was contacted to assist with the displaced occupant.The Delaware State Fire Marshall was requested to the fire ground and is investigating.The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control and limited scene access for the duration of the incident.Additional information may be viewed via the following links:(1) WRDE News - https://www.wrde.com/news/fire-damages-long-neck-house/article_6fd02dda-68aa-11ee-8c86-bfe38ef33367.html
