Nature: Service Call-Fire

Location: 32983 Shoppes At Long Neck Blvd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday, September 24^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a service call type alarm at the Shoppes at Long Neck.  It was reported to be a multi-family residential structure with a ceiling collapse in a second floor apartment.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation, evaluate and identify the origin of the incident, debris recovery, notification of the American Red Cross for displaced occupants, notification of Sussex County Building Inspector and initial occupant assistance.

It appears that a second floor apartment sustained a ceiling collapse incident.  The occupants of the apartment – two adults and two children – will be temporarily displaced.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
