Nature: Carbon Monoxide Detector

Location: 26518 Tributary Blvd Peninsula Lakes, DE 19966

On Friday evening, May 26th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a carbon monoxide detector activation on Tributary Boulevard in the Peninsula Lakes development off Bay Farm Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional requests included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad for evaluation of one residential occupant as well as the utility service provider.

Emergency response crew assignments included evaluation and investigation of the exterior and interior of the residential structure, monitoring the gas meter readings, ventilation, notification of the appropriate utility service provider and request for EMS responders.

It appears that there was an actual gas leak which required the utility service provider to respond and ameliorate the gas detector readings within the residential structure.  Efforts to ventilate the structure were completed prior to the arrival of the gas company as well as having EMS check the status of the residential occupants.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and scene access for the duration of the incident.
