Nature: Trash Fire

Address: 27127 Barkantine Dr., River Village, DE 19966

On Thursday morning, May 19^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a trash fire incident on Barkantine Drive in the River Village development off Oak Orchard Road.  It was reported that a neighbor was burning household trash and debris in their backyard.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included evaluation and investigation, incident mitigation, discussion with the property owner and fire suppression measures.

It appears that the residential occupant was intentionally omissive with her explanations and clearly advised of the State of Delaware Burn Ban and the burning such types of materials was inappropriate and illegal. The burning materials was fully suppressed via the direction of the Officer-in-Charge.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic assistance where needed.
