Nature: Pre-arranged Standby Assignment – Funeral Detail – Wilmington Manor Fire Company

Location: New Castle County

On Wednesday, July 21st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company provided a designated standby crew to permit the Wilmington Manor Volunteer Fire Company to coordinate and conduct funeral arrangements for one of their own.  These assignments included a fully staffed aerial (tower) truck assignment and a fire police unit from Indian River.

A standby crew consists of a minimum number of firefighters, fully equipped and trained, SHALL be on standby outside the designated location to provide assistance or perform rapid response, if needed.

The Wilmington Manor crew was alerted for three emergency incidents throughout the day:

(1)  Aircraft Emergency - New Castle Airport - incident cancelled;

(2) Automatic Fire Alarm - New Castle Corporate Commons - Common Blvd - malfunctioning alarm; and

(3) Overdose Incident reportedly in a vehicle - Hares Corner.
