Nature: Vehicle in Floodwater - Long Neck Road

On Saturday morning, September 26, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle in floodwater and in the roadway.  Additional emergency alerts included the additional emergency response apparatus assigned to the Long Neck area via the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team - EVAC-1.  It was reported to be a black sedan stuck in the floodwaters with one occupant in the vehicle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included the assigned high water response vehicle (EVAC-1) and Utility 80-14 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments were to identify and evaluate the situation and offer assistance to the motorist.

It appears that a vehicle did not heed the floodwaters and attempted to drive through the water and become disabled.  Emergency response personnel assisted to extricate the vehicle occupant and left the vehicle for pending towing operators to retrieve.

This area of Long Neck traditionally floods as a result of inclement tidal conditions.
