Nature: Vehicle In Floodwater

On Saturday morning, September 26, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle in floodwater, disabled and in the roadway.  Additional emergency alerts included the additional emergency response apparatus assigned to the Long Neck area via the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team - EVAC-1.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-14 (high water response vehicle) and EVAC-1 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments were to identify and evaluate the situation and offer assistance to the motorist.

It appears that a silver Subaru SUV did not heed the floodwater signage and attempted to drive through the water and become disabled.  Emergency response personnel assisted with the efforts to extricate the vehicle occupant(s) and left the vehicle for pending towing operators to retrieve.

This area of Oak Orchard Road was clearly marked with road closed signage and standing tidal saltwater conditions in the roadway.
