Nature: Structure Fire - Residential (Single) – Liberty West

On Wednesday evening, Mary 20th, the Indian River (80), Dagsboro (73), Lewes (82), and Georgetown (77) fire companies were alerted to assist Millsboro (83) Fire Company with a residential structure on Gate Drive in the Liberty West development off Hollyville Road.  Additional emergency alerts include the Sussex County Paramedics and nearby mutual aid companies including but not limited to:  Gumboro (79), Laurel (81), Milton (85) and Blades (71) fire companies to perform designated assignments.  It was reported to be the whole front of house on fire with heavy black smoke visible.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80, Engine 80 and Traffic Control 80 from the Long Neck area. 

Emergency response crew assignments were to assist Millsboro with aerial apparatus, water supply, fire suppression assignments as needed, manpower pool, and all other fire ground operations as delegated.

It was reported to the emergency operations center to be a working alarm with the whole house on fire, heavy smoke with fire through the roof with possible car and truck on fire as well.  All persons were reported out of the residence.  Incident Command from Millsboro arrived and requested additional mutual assistance assignments to the scene and back-fill stations for additional emergency response incidents in the fire district, requested utility service providers to the incident location and all other tasks as needed.

The Sussex County Paramedics did provide services at the incident location.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and scene access limitations as needed.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
