Address: 35408 Lagoon Lane Mariners Cove, DE 19966

Cross Streets: Cove Dr/Dead End

On Thursday evening, May 14th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a gas leak incident on Lagoon Lane in the Mariner’s Cove development off Long Neck Road.  It was reported that popping noises could be heard and thinks gas is leaking from the stove.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine 80 and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response unit assignments included an initial 360 evaluation of the exterior and interior of the residence, monitor gas meter readings, and could identify an odor of inside.  The appliance was shut off with the gas being shut off at the tank location.  The utility service provider was notified.   Rescue 80 was staged at the hydrant.

It appears that there was an operational issue with the gas stove appliance, the residence was ventilated with the gas being shut off.  The occupants were advised not to turned back on until the utility service provider and repair personnel were present.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
