On Monday, May 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a citizen assist / service call type incident to provide manpower for a lift assist request on Sea Mist Court in the Rehoboth Shores development off Long Neck Road.

A fire department lift assist is a non-emergency service call where crews help someone or emergency medical service providers with a person who has fallen and cannot get back up on their own, but is not seriously injured. These calls are common, often making up 10% of all fire department runs, and are most frequent among older adults or those with mobility issues.

Apparatus response from Indian River included an officer and Brush 80 with a designated crew.

While this request for service was being completed a second emergency in the fire district was dispatched in the Long Neck area as well.
