Nature: MVC – BLS – John J. Williams Highway @ Holly Lake Road

On Wednesday evening, April 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad were for a motor vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Holly Lake Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported to be a single vehicle accident involving a telephone pole.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization where needed, vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, notification of utility service provider, and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a single vehicle left the roadway striking a utility pole causing the pole to snap.

The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close John J. Williams Highway pending arrival of the utility service provider.

The Delaware Transportation Department was requested with arrowboards for traffic control assistance.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
